sadie_d_t.jpg

Sadie Dawn, born April 2nd 2007,  was the result of inbreeding & had a congenital defect called an ectopic ureter. This caused her to dribble urine all the time. We held a fundraiser and were able to generate funds to have surgery done on Sadie Dawn to give her a normal life. Thanks to everyone who pooled their prayers and donations.

Sadie Dawn had her surgery 10/31/07 by the surgeon Dr. Elce and was discharged Friday the 2nd of Nov.

Thanks to Ohio State physicians and staff for their wonderful treatment of Sadie Dawn. Click on her thumbnail to view photos including snaps of the surgery (no gross ones so its safe for all viewers).

Sadie is ready for adoption, her fee is 600.00 Sadie has also been spayed. NO MARE HEATS :-)

90 days professional training at Lake Erie College Equestrian Program completed 12/2 & was progressing well under saddle.

Much to our dismay, we found out BeeBee had been caught after she foaled Princess Jordan before we obtained her. BeeBee foaled a filly on April 2nd 2007. Her name is Sadie Dawn. Sept 2007 Sadie was weaned and BeBee is available to adopt now..

WINDY-Beautiful black mustang mare with freeze brands. Windy arrived 11/23/03 very wary of humans. Poor Windy was abused prior to arriving at HHRF. She was so scared of people we couldn't get near her without her cringing. She is slowly  learning to trust. Her registration # is 209435 making her birth year 1986. She is approx. 15 hands. Windy is available to adopt to the right home as a companion & appreciate her for being an independent spirit.

Beamer is on the Memorial page. Others are on the animals adopted page
For those of you unfamiliar with the case, these TB were all rescued via a HS seizure and came to HHRF in April 2003 with lice, and scabs, nearly bald with split hooves, burrs in their tails as well as being emaciated and dehydrated. One mare Boca had a broken jaw. Mercedes was so far gone our Vet thought she wouldn't make it. Most of the boys had severe sheath infections.
The courts ruled and we were given full custody of them in 3/04
Case Number 1579 click HERE to read details.
We are happy to offer them chances for a new life especially since 20 of their herd mates died. These horses have never been raced and are sound. They can excel at anything you choose them to be with a little time and training. Take a look at them. We're sure one of these special horses will win your heart.

Boca

adoption fee 600.00
Boca is a 15 yr old (approx) chestnut mare with a star. She arrived with a broken jaw. She fine now and just waiting for someone to adopt her to start training. 7/3 in training with Nicole Koontz. 8/25/05 Update on training. "Boca" is under saddle and doing well. Nicole believes she would excell as a hunter verses a trail horse. She will remain with Nicole for a few more weeks. Then be available for adoption. 9/5/05 Boca returned to HH. She is now going well under saddle but will need an experianced rider to continue with her training. Stands in cross ties, leads and loads, easy to handle her feet. Walks on willingly. Sometimes balks when asked to trot or she will give a little buck that Nicole rode out but we want you to be aware of her issues.  She may be doing it because she is still new to being under saddle and walking is all she is comfortable with. After a break she will return to the trainer unless she is adopted before then.

"SILKY" chestnut mare-in training with Nicole Koontz 9/1/06 to 12/3 note from Nicole-"Nicole said she is a very good girl. Just didn't  know anything. She is fine with cross ties, tacking up and lounging.. also riding in the arena. If you push her at a trot, she does get tight.. but has never bucked.  She does very well with repetition. Nicloe is avilable for questions if anyone is interested. I would love to find a foster home for her that can continue the same routine. She was kept in a stall and ridden daily."
